Within the respective art scenes of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Brussels and Ghent, an internationally renowned generation of artists has emerged in recent years. The mobility and openness of the participating artists coalesce with awareness for the artistic traditions of their native lands, Belgium and the Netherlands. Both strands are united in „Crossroads“, an exhibition curated for KIT – Kunst im Tunnel by German/Belgian artist Felicitas Rohden and Gertrud Peters. The exhibition itself is the result of an artistic view of the artworks themselves – a view form within art itself and directed at the works from the outside. It is an intuitive view, deriving both from the direct engagement with art and the eschewal of a theoretical superstructure.
Astrid Wege has conducted interviews with each participating artist for the catalogue - the conversations themselves admirably demonstrating beyond the pictorial representations themselves, how well „Crossroads“ functions at KIT as an intersection of sculpture, drawing, photography, performance, and music.
